I've lost track of how many times a limited character banner has given me another standard five-star instead of the featured unit. But over time, I started treating those standard pulls less like losses and more like foundational pieces. If you are approaching the 300-wish selector on the Stellar Warp banner—or you just want to know which standard five-star deserves your resources—I have tested each of them enough to rank their general account value. These are my personal impressions after running teams through Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and the various boss-focused challenges available in 2026.

Here's a quick snapshot:

Rank Character Path Element Main Value
7 Yanqing Hunt Ice Single-target burst and self crit buffs
6 Himeko Erudition Fire Weakness Break follow-up attacks
5 Welt Nihility Imaginary Enemy slow, delay, and debuff utility
4 Bailu Abundance Lightning Strong healing and once-per-battle revive
3 Gepard Preservation Ice Team-wide shields and solo sustain
2 Clara Destruction Physical Counterattack damage and tankiness
1 Bronya Harmony Wind Turn advance, cleanse, and massive damage buffs

7 Yanqing — Easy To Build, Less Valuable Later

For a brand-new account, Yanqing can feel fantastic. He follows the Hunt, deals solid single-target Ice damage, and has a chance to Freeze enemies, delaying their turns. His real power comes from the Soulsteel Sync state, which gives him extra Crit Rate, extra Crit DMG, and the chance to launch a follow-up attack that scales up to 50% of his ATK. Since those crit bonuses are built into his kit, he is easy to gear early on when you do not yet have excellent Light Cones and Relics.

The problem appears later. His boost depends on not taking damage, so a stray hit can knock him out of Soulsteel Sync and make his output collapse. On top of that, single-target damage becomes less efficient in modes where multiple enemies appear constantly. If you already have Jingliu, she covers similar Ice damage needs while delivering far stronger results in most modern content.

6 Himeko — Situational But Powerful In Add-Heavy Fights

Himeko is one of those characters I always underestimate until she suddenly clears an entire wave by herself. As a Fire Erudition unit, she has strong AoE damage and an Ultimate that refunds Energy when it scores kills. Her Talent stacks every time an enemy’s Weakness is broken, and at three stacks she launches a follow-up attack. Against groups of enemies that can be Weakness Broken easily, she becomes a follow-up machine.

That said, her value drops hard in boss fights or when fewer enemies are on the field. You simply cannot generate enough Weakness Breaks to keep her Talent rolling. She benefits greatly from follow-up attack supports, and Topaz was a notable early partner for her. Even with current support options, I would call Himeko a situational pick rather than a universal carry.

5 Welt — Slow And Delay, But Damage Can Scatter

Welt occupies a strange but useful niche. He is an Imaginary Nihility character whose Ultimate can Imprison enemies, slowing them and giving your team more comfortable turns. His Talent increases his damage against slowed enemies, while his Skill bounces between targets like Asta's or Sampo's multi-hit attacks. When there is only one enemy, all three hits concentrate on that target and the damage feels excellent.

When adds enter the fight, however, those hits scatter and Welt becomes less impressive as a hypercarry. In those moments, I usually shift him into a sub DPS or debuffer role. His value has always been dependent on enemy count, so he is useful but not always the strongest choice for every account.

4 Bailu — Excellent Healing, No Cleanse

Bailu can keep a team alive through almost anything in the early and mid game. As a Lightning Abundance unit, her Skill heals one ally and can bounce to two more. Her Invigoration mechanic, granted by her Ultimate, lets allies heal when they take damage, which happens outside her turn and saves a lot of Skill Points. She can also revive a downed character once per battle—an ability that has saved me more runs than I care to admit.

Her biggest flaw is the complete lack of a Cleanse. In harder endgame stages, powerful debuffs, crowd control, and damage-over-time effects become common, and a healer who cannot remove those debuffs feels increasingly difficult to justify over other sustain options.

3 Gepard — Incredible Solo Sustain

Gepard remains one of the most reliable solo-sustain units I have used. He is an Ice Preservation character who scales off DEF, which makes him surprisingly easy to build. His Ultimate grants a large team-wide shield, and his Skill can Freeze an enemy in an emergency. His second Ascension ability draws more enemy attacks, helping him recharge his Ultimate faster, and he can even self-revive once per battle.

The main reason Gepard ranks lower than Clara is synergy. He does not pair well with characters who want to be attacked, such as Clara or Blade, nor with units like Jingliu who drain ally HP to boost their own attacks. If your team does not rely on those anti-synergies, Gepard can anchor almost any comp with minimal Skill Point use.

2 Clara — Unique Counterattack Playstyle And Big Damage

I think Clara has one of the most entertaining kits in the game. She is a Physical Destruction character whose Talent provides a permanent 10% damage reduction and lets Svarog counterattack whenever Clara is hit. That counterattack can deal up to 160% of Clara’s ATK, and because it has no cooldown, she constantly deals passive damage outside her turn. Her Talent also places a Mark of Counter on enemies, making them take double damage from her Skill’s AoE attack.

Her Ultimate goes further: it reduces damage taken, increases her aggro, enhances her counterattacks, and lets Svarog launch enhanced counters when any ally is attacked, up to two times. Clara does depend on enemy attacks, so her output can vary. But in AoE-heavy fights, she can feel absolutely devastating, and she doubles as a surprisingly tanky presence.

1 Bronya — The Best Standard Five-Star Support

If I had to recommend only one standard five-star from the selector, it would still be Bronya. She is a Wind Harmony unit whose Skill advances an ally’s turn by 100% and cleanses one debuff. Her Ultimate provides a huge ATK and Crit DMG boost to the entire team. In a turn-based game, cheating the turn order is extraordinarily powerful. Bronya lets a damage dealer act twice in the same cycle, effectively doubling their damage potential, or she can advance a healer for emergency sustain.

Yes, Bronya is Skill Point hungry, but her E1 Eidolon has a 50% chance to recover a Skill Point when she uses her Skill. That single upgrade can dramatically smooth out rotations. Even at Eidolon 0, her combination of turn manipulation, uptime, and team buffs makes her the most future-proof standard character in my experience.

Final Thoughts

The right standard five-star pick will always depend on what your account needs. For pure long-term support value, Bronya is nearly impossible to beat. Clara offers a unique blend of tankiness and damage, while Gepard and Bailu both provide strong sustain in different ways. Himeko, Welt, and Yanqing can perform wonderfully in the right contexts, but they are more specialized. If you are sitting on the 300-wish selector, think about which weaknesses your account currently has—because a well-chosen standard character can remain relevant for years.
